What are the Common Errors in English?

Common errors are the mistakes in English that non-native speakers often make while writing and speaking in the English language. Similarly, English as a Second Language (ESL) speakers often make common errors due to weak knowledge of English language grammar. Additionally, the English language is so diverse that anyone can make mistakes while writing and speaking in English. 

However, one can avoid these mistakes/errors by having a grip on parts of speech, tenses, parts, the structure of a sentence, and punctuation marks. In this blog article, I have highlighted 50 common errors that will certainly help you to avoid mistakes and get prepared for all sorts of exams. I have already underlined the wrong word(s) for your convenience. So let's now read and know about them. 

 INCORRECT:  If I was you, I would work hard.                 

CORRECT: If I were you, I would work hard.

 INCORRECT: He is very careful about his health.            

 CORRECT: He is very careful of his health.

 INCORRECT: Is this handwriting your’s?                         

CORRECT: Is this handwriting yours?  

 INCORRECT: None of these books are good.                    

CORRECT: None of these books is good.

INCORRECT: Neither Arif nor Amir are present.              

CORRECT: Neither Arif nor Amir is present.

 INCORRECT: He and She never trusted one another.        

CORRECT: He and She never trusted each other.

 INCORRECT: People complain about heat.                       

CORRECT: People complain of the heat.

INCORRECT: Correct the sentence who is wrong.

INCORRECT: This is an excited story.                             

CORRECT: This is an exciting story.

 INCORRECT: Anmol is very much exciting.

 INCORRECT: He saw a dream.

INCORRECT: Father of Ali lives in Larkana.                  

CORRECT: Ali’s father lives in Larkana.

INCORRECT: He swore from God.

INCORRECT: She enquired whether I teach English.       

CORRECT: She enquired whether I taught English.

INCORRECT: Is there some sugar in the jar?

INCORRECT: We, you, and they go to the village.
