COVID-19 PANDEMIC; A MYTH OR REALITY?

COVID-19 Pandemic: A Myth or Reality?

COVID-19 pandemic

Overview

When the first-ever case of severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was reported in China's Wuhan city in December 2019, the disease was made public. This pandemic (COVID-19) virus has been spreading worldwide ever since, causing significant disruptions to daily life and activities. In addition, it has imposed new restrictions on the local, regional, continental, and global levels, resulting in a disastrous situations all over the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hurt the economy, and world trade has sounded the alarm of disaster, disaster, hunger, and a lack of food, especially for countries in the third world. Up until August 2021, this novel and severe disease have resulted in over 1 million deaths, or a 2.11 percent case fatality rate (CFR) according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University and WHO. When will the pandemic situation be under control and the world resume its normal activities? At the moment, no one is aware of it.

Introduction:

It was initially referred to as the "Coronavirus" and "Wuhan Coronavirus" at the time of the first coronavirus outbreak in China's commercial hub of Wuhan. It was also known as "Wuhan Pneumonia" in the past. Other diseases like "The Spanish Flu," "Zaka Virus," and "Middle East Respiratory Syndrome" were named after their geographic locations.

At first, it was explained that the coronavirus is a virus that spreads through airborne droplets and small airborne particles. It eventually affects the way the lungs work, leading to problems breathing.

The COVID-19 pandemic's symptoms vary from region to region, but common ones include fever, cough, headache, fatigue, loss of taste and smell, and difficulty breathing. On the other hand, a number of studies suggested that the coronavirus is less effective in the cold than in the hot season because of the higher temperature (around 30 °C).

Later on, it was mentioned that this virus is altering its biological structure and increasing its ability to immunize, varying by region.

In light of previous studies on how to deal with various diseases of this kind, research was started in various drug-making labs around the world to create a vaccine. This included advising the general public to follow certain precautions like masking, distancing, quarantining, and movement restrictions (lockdown, etc).

According to research, four distinct coronavirus variants have been identified worldwide to date. The UK discovered the Alpha variant, South Africa discovered the Beta variant, Brazil discovered the Gamma variant, and India discovered the Delta variant, all of which are variants of the coronavirus.

Even though various vaccines (such as the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, the BIBP vaccine, the AstraZeneca vaccine, the Sputnik V vaccine, the Moderna vaccine, the CanSino vaccine, and the Corona Vac vaccine, among others)coronavirus-related products have been developed, but the World Health Organization (WHO) states that coronavirus cannot be treated in a specific way. This indicates that the world currently lacks a solution to halt the imminent spread of this pandemic disease.

Various Conspiracy Theories against Corona Virus Disease:

Various viewpoints have been expressed regarding the COVID-19 pandemic since its inception. It was stated that this virus was created by humans to accomplish specific objectives rather than coming from nature. There are a lot of different points of view in this regard. Let's examine some intriguing conspiracy theories.

i. It is believed that the coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, a major economic center. The spread of this man-made virus was intended to destabilize China's economy and arouse fear among global business leaders about going to Wuhan, China, for a variety of business deals and conferences.

In this regard, China and the United States have been blaming each other for the spread of the coronavirus, resulting in heated debate and blame games. It is impossible to rule out the possibility of an artificially created coronavirus in this world of personal interests and wars for power. As a result, one cannot rule out anything from powerful nations.

ii.          One more paranoid idea that stayed all the rage is that Bill Entryways Establishment is attempting to decrease the total populace which at present stands at around 9 million. Resources are decreasing at a very rapid rate as a result of the rapid increase in the world's population, which will pose serious issues, particularly for advanced nations like the United States, England, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada, among others.

The Bill Gates Foundation has been investing a significant amount of money in a variety of research projects, one of which has been raising concerns about the rapid growth of the world's population. We are aware that capitalists, or neoliberals, control the world. Nearly half of the world's wealth and resources are in the hands of the 100 richest men, including Bill Gates.

This world's powerful and affluent elite class is worried about the world's growing population as well as its opulent lifestyle and unlimited wealth. Simply put, this group of capitalists wants to have complete control over the world, including how UNO (WHO) is run and governed. Keep in mind that UNO receives the most funding from this elite class. As a result, we are unable to rule out this hypothesis, which suggests that the coronavirus is in fact created by humans rather than occurring naturally.

iii.  On the other hand, it is also assumed that Israel collaborated with the United States to develop the COVID-19 pandemic virus in order to implement the "New World Order."Israel, with the assistance of the United States, has attempted to deviate from the world and focus on the coronavirus in order to carry out the New World Order by occupying additional Palestinian territory, including the settlement of Jews in Gaza and the West Bank Strip, and by maintaining chaos and anarchy in the Middle East.

American think tank, on the other hand, was desperately looking for a way to leave Afghanistan and save its face in the so-called War on Terror. Because Modi's government was losing ground in India over Occupied Kashmir and recent conflicts with China in Ladakh, both Israel and the United States assisted Modi in engaging and diverting Indian masses and providing some space to their ally (Modi). This is also connected to the sudden increase in deaths caused by the spread of the coronavirus in India.

It's hard to say which of these conspiracies is more relevant and close to the truth. Even so, it's possible that none of them are accurate or relevant. However, which argument you consider a possibility is dependent on your comprehension.

COVID-19 Pandemic and its Impact on 3rd World and Advanced Countries

Third-world and developing nations have suffered greatly since the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Certain restrictions and lockdowns, in particular, put the lives of ordinary people in jeopardy. Poor and lower-class people all over the world, including Pakistan, have been severely impacted by the reduction in economic activities and commerce. The common population's excess has decreased to two meals per day as a result of inflation and price increases in third-world nations.

On the other hand, advanced nations have suffered less because they have access to more resources and better medical facilities. Even in advanced nations, where people absolutely detest coronavirus restrictions, prolonged and uncertain restrictions have caused people to lose their temper.

On the other hand, a lot of people are also wondering why they tested positive again after getting vaccinated. Many regions of the world may soon experience a new state of chaos and anarchy if current trends continue.

When we look at how the coronavirus disease is spreading in Pakistan, we notice that the majority of people, particularly those who are poor, struggling, and from the lower middle class, have been severely affected. Similar to other parts of the world, Pakistan's main issues are unemployment, inflation, and education.

As a result of receiving more funding for vaccine testing and aid, the Pakistani government has launched a comprehensive vaccination program. This raises concerns among many people that the government is interfering with people's lives by testing various vaccines on them.

Conclusion

It is abundantly clear from the preceding discussion that the COVID-19 pandemic is the reality that has stopped the world, but it is difficult to determine whether the coronavirus is a natural disaster or a man-made, artificially developed virus. The truth will emerge over time, but one thing is certain: it has put a common man's life in jeopardy. Poor people will surely die of hunger, if not a virus if the lockdown situation continues on and off.

On the other hand, if it is made by humans and developed in labs rather than naturally, it is a terrible affront to humanity, and we must be ashamed of doing such evil things for personal gain. However, the sad reality is that we are never ashamed because, even in today's scientifically advanced world, hunger, which is the most deadly virus of all, kills approximately 8000 people, including children.

Dilema of Democracy & Political Leadership Crisis in Pakistan

Dilemma of Democracy & Political Leadership Crisis in Pakistan Overview Since mid 20th century,  Democracy is being considered the most accomplished process and a form of government where only people’s representatives have the right and authority to run the affairs of the state including forming certain constitutional rules and regulations.  Through democracy, people choose their representatives following a well-defined system of voting. The elected representatives then govern the affairs of the state on behalf of their people for a certain period of time (usually 4 to 5 years).  These representatives actually ensure the authority and rule of law for their people in the larger interests of any nation, state, or country. On the other hand, they are also held accountable and responsible for their actions and exercising of the powers within certain limitations as defined in the constitution or legislated through parliament.  Although Pakistan is a pure democratic...

Quantitative Reasoning: Statistics and its Relevance in the Context of BS English/Education Course

Introduction to Quantitative Reasoning Course   Quantitative Reasoning (QR) is an ability and an academic skill to use mathematical concepts and procedures. QR often involves interpretation of empirical and numerical data, identification of patterns, flow charts, geometrical shapes, and diagrams for identifying real life problems including offering viable solutions.  QR requires logical reasoning and critical thinking to analyse the real life issues and making informed decisions. Quantitative Reasoning Statistical Basics

Measures of Central Tendency Measures of central tendency are the specific statistical values which describe the typical values or central position of a dataset. The three most common single statistical values include Mean, Median and Mode.  Arithmetic Mean : Average of all values (sum divided by count). Geometric Mean : nth root of the product of values (used for growth rates). Harmonic Mean : The Reciprocal of the average of reciprocals (used for rates like speed). Median : Middle value when data is ordered. Quartiles : Values dividing data into four equal parts (Q1=25th, Q2=50th=median, Q3=75th percentile). Mode : Most frequent value. Measures of Dispersion Range : Difference between maximum and minimum values. Quartile Deviation : Half the interquartile range (Q3 - Q1)/2. Mean Deviation : Average absolute deviation from the mean. Variance : Average squared deviation from the mean. Standard Deviation : Square root of variance (spread in original units). Coefficient of Varia...

AFGHANISTAN CRISES: WHERE DOES PAKISTAN STAND?

Afghanistan Crises and Pakistan  Background According to history, Afghanistan has remained a war zone and a plan to invade central and south Asia for a long time. All of the invaders' troops entered South Asia through Afghanistan, from the Aryans to the Mughals. Afghanistan was the target of two major invasions in recent history. The former Soviet Union (USSR) launched its first invasion in December 1979, which lasted until 1989 and culminated in the dissolution of the Soviet Union into a number of distinct states. However, a significant portion of the formal USSR's territory, now known as the Russian Federation, is still there. As a result of the so-called September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the United States of America (USA) and its NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) allies, including Great Britain, launched the second invasion in 2001. Al-Qaeda's leader, Usama Bin Ladin, was allegedly blamed for the 9/11 attacks and claims that Al-Qa...

Social Media Literacy and Educational Approaches in the 21st Century Teaching & Learning Context: B.Ed Honours Course Content

Social Media Literacy & Modes of Education in 21st Century (B.Ed Honours) Course Content Introduction The term social media refers to the digital interaction among different social groups. One of the most integral aspects of human life in the 21st century is social media, and it has significantly transformed how individuals communicate, interact, and gain information. Social media has opened the door to new opportunities for learning and information sharing including diverse challenges for teachers and learners in the process of teaching and learning.  In less advanced countries like Pakistan, teachers are still reluctant to use social media platforms while teaching because they lack certain skills to use different social media platforms effectively. As a result of it, such teachers rely on outdated traditional methods of teaching. On the other hand, many students believe that the purpose of social media use is just for entertainment and informal interaction with digital friend...

BOOKS ARE THE BEST OF ALL THE FRIENDS!

Books are the Best of all the Friends  Overview: Francis Bacon rightly said that “some books are tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested”. In his quote, Bacon emphasized that there are very few books only to be read out as wholly because they draw our attention with diligence and develop curiosity as we go on reading them further and further. Actually, books are the food for our brains and thoughts. They provide us knowledge, and deep information and develop creativity along with critical thinking skills.  Books lead us towards a world of fantasy and imagination and pose various logical and rational questions and intend to seek our reflection. According to Charles W. Eliot, “books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers”. Books are best friends and they are always ready to talk to us and share their information and experiences with us. Books are mi...
